MARK YOUR CALENDER - Local Upcoming Scheduled Kite Flys:

Summer Fun Flys
Our regular Wednesday evening summer fun flys' will start again soon.
As usual, along with the folks from Seaside Park and 'Summer In The Park', we will be flying on the beach on Wednesday evenings, weather permitting, for the months of July and August. Starting around 6:00pm, on the beaches in beautiful Seaside Park in the areas of 4th through 8th streets, we will be enjoying the wonderful sea breezes along with great kite flying during the summer months. Though not a 'formal fly', it's a wonderful time to enjoy the comraderie of other kiters young and old and spend some time with your kite. You'll find a mix of power kiting, stunt kites, single line, line laundry, aerial kite photography ....., whatever suits our moods and winds for the evening. Take a look some aerial photographs of our kite beach taken during the summer 2006.

Regular Summer Fun Flys on Wednesday evenings through August. See you there! Bring a kite.

As a bonus, Every Wednesday night in the summer, Seaside Heights puts on a spectacular fireworks show at dark. Of course, you can also treat yourself to some great Ice Cream at 'Charlies' just around the corner, or find numerous places to eat. Want more excitement? Check out the Amusement Piers and boardwalk in Seaside Heights for games, rides and more eats!

We frequently fly along the beaches many nights of the week. Kite flying is not permitted during regular bathing hours at most beaches, but is acceptable after the guards and bathers leave. Kite flying is permitted with some guidelines, in Island Beach State Park year round. Remember to fly responsibly and safely. Never fly near crowds, or in a manner beyond your ability.

Fly safe, Fly smart! We'll see you there.

Local Kite Flying:-

Kite flying is always enjoyable on the beach in Seaside Park. Whether it's Winter or Summer, conditions are usually great. Single Line, Two-Line Stunt Kites and Traction Kites are flown. Newer flyers get experience with Dual line kites during our Summer Fun Flys and the "regulars" hoist Line Laundry. Flyers look forward to great summer kite flying and take time to test new kites as well as make sure old favorites get an airing.

We often take time during the off season to test new products either at the beach or a local recreation field. As the weather begins to warm up, we will sometimes offer kite making workshops in anticipation of the summer flying season. Often, home made kites can be seen at our weekly summer fun fly gatherings. Come to fly, come to watch. It's often a sky event not to be missed.

Take advantage of the brisk sunny days in Spring to visit the shore and get something into the sky. Don't forget, April is National Kite Month and many schools make kite building and flying a fun project.

Hope to see you on the flying field soon.

Ice and Snow:-

The Toms River is transformed into the perfect ice rink if we are treated to a hard freeze. It's a rare treat to take a stroll ON the river and get in a little Ice-Kiting. During this flying session the surface was particularly smooth and much fun was had by all. With a moderate snowfall you can use skis or a snowboard when the wind picks up for local snow kiting action.
